Pasting HTML into FrontPage?

FrontPage is an HTML editor that requires adding HTML in a very specific way. If the HTML is not added properly Microsoft FrontPage will change the HTML.

Usually this change makes the button function improperly.

Here is how you should paste HTML into FrontPage 2000 to avoid the problem:
  1. Open your HTML document in FrontPage.
  2. Click in FrontPage where you would like the HTML to appear.
  3. Across the top menu choose "Insert", then "Advanced", then "HTML".
  4. Paste the HTML into the window that pops up.

Here is how you should paste HTML into FrontPage 2002 & 2003 to avoid the problem:
  1. Open your HTML document in FrontPage.
  2. Click in FrontPage where you would like the HTML to appear.
  3. Across the top menu choose "Insert", then "Web Component".
  4. A new window will open titled "Insert Web Component". On the bottom left of the window click on "Advanced Controls".
  5. Another set of choices will appear. Select "HTML", then click "Finish".
  6. Paste the HTML into the window that pops up and click "OK".

An important thing to remember is that any HTML code pasted in this way will NOT be visible in the normal FrontPage design window, you will only see this code in the Code & Preview windows.

If you are using a different version of FrontPage, you can find the instructions to insert the HTML using the help menu inside FrontPage. Simply search for "insert HTML"
